Hog Island Oyster Farm | Marshall | California

What can I say? Hog Island. So. Much. Fun.

When I first moved here, Zeb commented on my instagram about how he loved Hog Island. I had no idea what he was talking about until Will told me about it being an oyster farm on Tomales Bay where you can bring a picnic and shuck your own oysters. AND this is where Zeb proposed to his lady. What a perfect spot.

I got to go to Hog Island Oyster Co. on Saturday. It is only  13 miles from where I live, lucky me.

At home, we were covered in cold fog. I layered up in sweaters and boots but as I summited the hill, I was blinded my the bright sun.

It was the most fun I have had since Europe or Avec with Jess, Nishant & Vishal, or Mikel's basque resto in Brooklyn. A long lunch, al fresco, great food and conversation, just like the good old days in Europe where we would linger at the table for hours, drinking wine mid day and being in no rush to be anywhere but at that table.

The oysters are farmed right there and you set up camp at a picnic table overlooking the bay. There's wine, there's cheese from Cow Girl Creamery (located in the town I live), you share tables with strangers (another thing I love about Europe). I love a good culinary adventure (hint, hint, Capt. Jill the pilot- we have some adventures to do!)

I also loved that it was so simple and unpretentious, they way food should be! I think there will be many more trips here in the future!
