bonfire on the beach | california
Here are some more pictures from my post Thanksgiving visit with Ethan and Danielle.
I live in the town where Cowgirl Creamery resides, so it is necessary to bring all guests in for some cheese. And Ethan is not new to this goodness and introduced me to the Red Hawk washed rind and the the Truffle Tremor goat cheese from Cyprus Grove. I popped open some Beaujolais and it turns out, I had a Thanksgiving as well!
Sunday, we took a post gluttony stride on the ocean to come across drift wood structures and hipsters from San Francisco.
And then my favorite. We had a mission to bonfire and picnic on the beach. I invited my co-workers and my mushroom forager friend. I loaded up my teeny Scion IQ with wood and got to show off my fire building skills, another great passion of mine that is not done nearly enough. I can start a fire in minutes, with one light and no gasoline. Love to impress me some city folk with my boy scout skillz.
J brought cheese and a mighty nice wine from Bolinas (very local). Danielle had saved the Inverness cheese (so E and I wouldn't demolish it the night before), A brought the huskies and Mark brought Kava.
People passed us on the beach with envious eyes. Yes, a bonfire with friends and local food and wine, is a mighty special thing!
I think Kerouac would have fit right in, drinking wine on the beach, eating local foods and keeping all the funky words that came out of everyone's mouths for future writings. For sure, modern day dharma bums.
