Late night text: Tourist Club tomorrow?

Word. I am down.

C, a fellow Evanstonian (hometown)living in the Bay Area told me about this super cool spot a few weeks ago and last Saturday was one of the few days a month it is open, so we were off!

We hopped in the car in The Mission and in under 45 minutes we where back in my hood of Marin County on a glorious, sunny day hiking in the forest to the Tourist Club. A refuge in the middle of the woods that was built by Germans living in San Francisco in 1912.

The only way in is to hike and once you are there you play games and drink beer. So reminiscent of my travels throughout Europe staying in mountain refuges.

We hiked on down passed Muir Woods, towards what sounded like a football stadium in the middle of the forest, happy people laughing and talking. We passed tipsy hipsters, college kids, outdoorsy folk and entered to quite a scene. So fun.

California is simply amazing. The quality of life here is well worth the high cost of living. We have everything–nature, weather, culture, cool ass people, and kick ass activities. I believe I have found my place, it took a while but here I am.
