the chapel of the chimes | oakland, ca

captivating chanting circle

Went to an amazing solstice event in Oakland last Friday.

The Chapel of the Chimes is an extraordinary mausoleum. I am not done with it. I need to go back next day off with a wide angle lens. There are so many nooks and crannies.

And there was a solstice concert on Friday in which each room was a mini concert.

My favorite was Laura Inserra, this adorable and talented Sicilian women who played the Hang. Imagine walking into a a cove, a mausoleum, only natural light with ponds and plants. Everyone sitting on the floor listening to her acoustic drumming. Amazing. Soulful.

I was playing with a new lens, so the pictures kinda suck.

These people, in California, are my people, eccentric, healthy, interesting, curious. Everyday here is a grand adventure! My curiosities are so very satisfied here. No wonder 10 months have just flown by!
