hygge

I've been a bad blogger. It's hard to write when you're not on the road and anonymous, I must say.

The fall and up until Christmas are a glorious blur. I had so much going on that I didn't have time to think. I like that. So many people came into my life, so many old friends and new.

Then, as happens every year, the New Year is quiet and cold and lonely. I embraced it at first as I had a stack of books to read. But, I need people more than my younger self did and just as the solitude was peaking, Jordan and Jay invited me over for a hygge filled evening.

Hygge is a Danish word for creating warmth and community in the winter time. It's not so blue with candlelight, classical music and good friends and a rad cat.

Point Reyes is always a different world in the winter. Things stop. The rain went on for days, the roads flooded, power went out and trees blocked the roads. We were all stuck in our introverted little worlds.

And it was king tides. Which means there was a lot of water, everywhere.

I drove my little Prius through flooded roads for a little hygge. It was worth it.
