"Yoga tomorrow?" I text my co-worker, Jordan.

We've been trying to make it to Peggy's class in town.

The sun sets way before class begins. A frigid chill in the air. It's hard to keep up the motivation to go but I know once we get in there, it will feel amazing.

Point Reyes gets engulfed in darkness in the fall and winter. You become very in touch with what life was like before artificial light. Hibernation feels right.

Everything slows down and after a busy summer, I have time to be with my thoughts and be in touch with my wants and passions. Summer is so busy, that one has little time to focus on oneself.

Going to yoga was the first step. The studio quickly filled up with familiar faces. The light was low and warm. Everyone talked joyously about the rain as they set up their mats. We've been without for so long and when it rains in Point Reyes, you really feel it.

It poured this morning. The sound of rain has become so foreign. Sleep had never been so satisfying.

Peggy had us moving, we generated heat quickly and the frigid outdoors were a distant memory.

I went home and lit all the candles, poured a glass of wine and turned on WFMT classical (Chicago's classical radio- my favorite). Hygge. A Danish word for warmth and candle light and community gathering.

I fell in love with Point Reyes because it reminded me so much of Limousin, France but as I reflect on those French winters, in the small rustic farming community, the thing about the French was everything was about having a meal. We gathered much more in Europe than my experience here. And we all loved wine. I long for dinner parties and group gatherings. Not parties, dinners.

Cravings for city life have crept in. Last weekend, going to wine bars and restaurants and good cocktail joints and a piano bar- all the stimulation! It felt amazing. I have been long overdue for a night out on the town and want more, so the pull in this coastal community is to hibernate, I hope to create hygge with friends.
